Construction Begins on New Center for Health and Wellness

Ground has been broken and site preparation is underway for construction of Wellbrooke of Kokomo, a 65,000 square foot center for health and wellness at 2200 South Dixon Road,  at the corner of Dixon and Boulevard.  The $13.3 million development is a joint project of LCS and Mainstreet and will bring up to 100 full-time jobs and up to 300 construction jobs to the area.

“We are excited to bring Wellbrooke of Kokomo to this community,” said General Manager Linda Wise. “This project will provide a state-of-the-art option for the citizens Kokomo and surrounding communities who are in need of assisted living or rehab services. It will also create great employment opportunities, as well as openings for partnerships with existing healthcare facilities in the area. The partnership between Wellbrooke of Kokomo and the City of Kokomo is a very positive development for the community.”

Wellbrooke of Kokomo is expected to open in February 2014. It rounds out a portfolio of five other similar centers in Wabash, Westfield, Avon, Crawfordsville and South Bend, Indiana.

The family of Wellbrooke communities introduces an innovative approach to the design and delivery of health services for a new generation offering service-rich residential apartments and private suites for top-of-the-line rehabilitative or long-term care.

Beyond the unity of such in-demand health services at a single campus are the uncharacteristically high aesthetic and cultural standards Wellbrooke has set to meet the preferences of a new generation of customers.  Its freestanding centers are considered, above all, living spaces where people can receive quality health care while being in a place they can enjoy.

Mainstreet’s Chairman and CEO Zeke Turner described guests experiencing concierge-based health services in a hotel-like atmosphere. “The design will feature multiple social destinations, including several different dining venues and private and public areas with fireplaces,” Turner stated.  “An emphasis on social features encourages interaction with family and friends, making Wellbrooke of Kokomo a destination for the entire community.”

Mainstreet and LCS look forward to collaborating with community resources to identify opportunities between the center and local partners.

Guiding the concierge-style delivery of service at Wellbrooke will be Life Care Services™, An LCS Company and its proprietary customer service initiative—LifeSTYLE Promise™, which focuses on resident preferences and quality care by creating a culture of exceptional hospitality.

“With 70 all-private accommodations for physical, occupational and speech rehabilitative and long-term care, as well as 30 service-rich apartments for full-time residential living, LifeSTYLE Promise™ will help us create the kind of wellness-focused and socially engaging environment today’s customers desire.   Furthermore, its principles enhance a culture whereby all staff can consistently contribute to a rare level of individualized hospitality assuring choice, control and flexibility,” said Susan Altman, Director of Operations Management for Life Care Services™.
